Tubby's Charity Ball 2009
The Innaugural Tubby's Charity Ball was held at the
Coffs Harbour Ex-Services Club in November 2009.
VISITING celebrities, surf lifesaving old boys and locals raised $49,000 for the Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club at the first fundraising event run byTubby’s White Whales.Formed in memory of former club president Peter ‘Tubby’ Wallace, who died in January 2008, Tubby’s White Whales ran a celebrity gala ball at C.ex Coffs recently, hosted by the stunning Charlotte Dawson, judge of Australia’s Next Top Model.
“I think Tubby would have been really impressed, it exceeded our expectations,” said co-organiser and Tubby’s daughter Danielle Wallace.“Everyone had a great time, everybody was updancing and the night had a lovely, community feel about it.” At least some of the funds raised are expected to be allocated by the surf club board towards completion of the building works currently in progress.
“We’re already planning the next event and a sportsman’s lunch is on the shortlist,” Danielle said.
